Temporary altar for Yule

I'm living in a temporary home for a while, so I had to arrange a temporary altar to celebrate Yule this year. I still have many things closed in boxes. Here you are my temporary altar.

Over it, there's a small image of Odin and you can see a copy of his spear...

What's most important is our intimate connection with the Gods.

Heil to the Aesir and the Vanir! Heil to the Gods and the Goddesses! Heil to Odin's spear and Thor's hammer! Heil to the mighty fecund earth!

ODIN AND THE CELT WOMAN

His warriors

assaulted many times

the land of emerald.

He came down from his throne,

much thicker made the fog.

On that day no one

was welcomed into Valhalla.

The bold woman from Celts

brandished his sword

always ready for fight.

Odin held out his hand

and smiled to her.

"Would it be you the god

of the people of the fjords

that you send out to attack us? "

she asked scornfully.

"So many names I have-

he said with an odd voice -

and different tasks

and interests, but,

now, after seeing you,

I forget everything

that I considered important

just shortly before hearing

the swift wingbeat

of this crow here".

"Sent your ships back

to their ice, then! "

the Celtic woman told

the god and he pleased her.

Grateful, but wary,

she urged her people

to keep on staying alert.

He offered her the mead

to seal a deal.

The god, warrior and magician,

didn't resort to magic,

but it was due to nature

what did arise for him

in the bold female heart.

Odin to her was husband,

although married to Frigg.

The Celt did not delude

herself to win the god,

nor to take goddess' place.

She brought up well the child

born from their union,

the little warrior girl,

as symbol of the truce

between mortal enemies.

Then the daughter of Odin

and of the bold Celtic woman,

was sent alone to ride

through many lands and waves.

She is always looking for

real justice and truth as well,

the sword in one hand

and in the other the runes .

At the end of her journey

she will open the gates,

all five hundred and forty,

and the long-bearded god,

the first poet, will escort

the girl to her father Odin

and he will welcome her.

A great, deep renovation

there will be in that room,

made with spears and with shields

and in the widest garden

female irons will cross

not to make clothes

and unnecessary blankets,

but to restore the use

of really ancient battles.

You will hear lots of laughter

and blows of metal,

celebrating every night

the coming back of them,

men and women, audacious,

all at the common banquet

up there in new Valhalla.
